What we store
Short version: you can use Video Brief without telling us who you are, and we do not keep a record of what you watch.

What using it writes down
There is nothing to sign in to. Summarizing, reading, sharing and emailing a brief are the whole product, and this is everything they write down:
- Your IP address, briefly. Rate limiting counts requests per address so one person cannot occupy the summarizer. These rows expire with their window — ten minutes for summarizing and sharing, an hour for email — and are deleted as they lapse. The address is stored as it arrives, not hashed.
- The video you asked about, for 48 hours. A summarize job records the video URL and the resulting brief so a reload does not repeat the work. It is not connected to you, and it is deleted after 48 hours.
- A shared brief, for 48 hours. Creating a share link stores that brief under a random id until it expires.
- The video's transcript, permanently. Captions are cached by video id so the same video is never fetched twice. This is about videos, not about people: it records that a video was summarized, never who asked.
- Your email address, if you ask for a copy. It is passed to our email provider to deliver that message and is not stored afterwards.
There is no analytics script, no advertising, no tracking pixel and no third-party cookie. There are no accounts, so there is nothing to sign in to and no cookie that identifies you.
Who else sees any of it
- YouTube receives a request for the video's captions and public details. That request comes from our server, not your browser, so YouTube does not see you. Embedded players are a different matter: pressing play loads YouTube's player, and from that point their terms and cookies apply.
- Cloudflare delivers email on our behalf and therefore handles the address and contents of anything we send you.
Nothing else. The service runs on hardware we operate, the database is a single file on that machine, and no data is sold, shared or used to train anything.
Deleting your data
Everything here ages out on its own within 48 hours, apart from cached transcripts, which are about videos rather than people and are not linked to anyone. There is no account to delete because there are no accounts.
A support address has not been published yet. If you are reading this and something is wrong, the person who invited you to Video Brief is the fastest route.
